The Misfits gain a new member

With the filming of everybody’s favourite Asbo superhero series about to kick off again, we thought we’d to treat you to some exciting news straight from the set.

This is England ’86 star Joe Gilgun, (who played Woody in the critically acclaimed series), has just signed on the dotted line to play new guy Rudy. He’ll be initiated into the gang in the typical Misfits fashion - so we hope he’s got a good pair of trainers to hand! Matthew McNulty will also be returning as dodgy dealer Seth, who we last saw dishing out new superpowers to the gang. Unfortunately we’re in as much suspense as you are as to who’ll be getting what, so let us know what you think might be on the cards.

And just when you thought that was exciting enough, we can reveal that they’ll be even more drama from the Misfits gang in future, as your overwhelming support for the show has seen the third series extended to a bumper eight episodes.

Misfits will return this autumn but if you don’t think you can wait that long, why not get ready by treating yourself to a Misfits marathon over on 4oD right now?

So Slacker chums, you've got your Slackers Club membership, you've watched a deliciously free film at a Picturehouse Cinema, you've overdosed on e-numbery sugary treats... what to do now?

Here's an idea: more films! But this time in the comfort of your own living room, which means sitting around in your pants is finally alright.

Our dear mates over at Film4oD have got a shed load of wicked new comedies to choose from. Here are some of our favourites...

1. Dinner for Schmucks starring Mike off of Friends and that bloke off of The Office. They go for dinner. A dinner for schmucks.

2. Heeey, it's a Jennifer Aniston rom-com, and guess what, she's making babies! Calm down you mucky pups, The Switch is more sample cups and turkey basters than dimmed lights and sexy-time. It's still right ruddy romantically funny though.

3. Fun film fact. British comedy Made in Dagenham weren't made in Dagenham at all - it was made in Wales. That doesn't make it any less hilarious. Watch it soon of Film4oD (from April 25th).

4. Did you like Anchorman? Of course you did, it was hilaaaarious. That means you'll probably like Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in cop comedy The Other Guys. Which other guys? The Other Guys. No which other guys? Shut up.

5. Fred: the movie is a full length movie about *YouTube sensation* Fred Figglehorn. It's like this but bigger and longer and more funnier - and it's coming to Film4oD next week (from April 11th).

Did Someone Say, 'Channel of the Year'?

At E4, we hate to blow our own trumpets. Why bother, when there are people queuing up to blow them for us? But, every once and again of a while, a catchy tune comes along that you just gotta razz.

You don't need us to tell you how important the Broadcast Awards are - course you don't - but we will, and they are.

The gong blitz for 2011 took place last night (2 Feb) and E4 done tremendous.

Misfits was on fire with a multi-headed beast of a win - for Best New Programme and Best Multichannel Programme. For those too lazy to count, that's two awards. Two being a higher number than, say, one.

And, for the big finish, the happiest of endings, Channel of the Year was awarded to... E4.

In the congratulatory words of the jury, there is 'little doubt that the channel is in rude health'.

So, please forgive us for pointing our big shiny bells to the sky and letting the jazz fly out.

Gleeks of the UK - vote for Glee

Another day, another award nomination for the wonderful Glee. But this time, it's a ruddy BRIT Award nomination no less - and guess what, you can vote for who wins!

The cast have been nominated in the category for Best International Breakthrough Act at the awards, which this year are held on 15th February.

The Inbetweeners Rude Road Trip

The Inbetweeners lads are off on a roadtrip - where? Minge Lane anyone?

As part of Red Nose Day 2011, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison are jumping in the yellow Fiat and hitting the road in search of the rudest place names going.

The challenge? To find 50 rude places in 50 hours. The trip will leave from Bush Lane (tehehe) at 12pm today (Tuesday 18th January) and finish at 2pm on Thursday at a rude London location. As well as Minge Lane, the guys will also be visiting Titty Ho and Bell End.

Get Glee-ful this Christmas

The long, cold, dark, stinky wait is nearly over and before you know it Glee will be singing, dancing, laughing, crying and dancing back onto E4 screens. And you can get in the mood with a slew of Glee-based events heading your way this festive season. For one there's this rather spiffy Glee Christmas album with all of your favourites busting out the yuletide hits.

Then there's a chance to see Kurt, Mercedes and co LIVE as the Glee tour hits the UK - they're playing all over and you get get the latest: HERE .

And then, not that you should ever stop watching E4 for a second, but we suggest you leave E4 playing in one room and then check out the X-Factor semi-finals on the portable in the kitchen as the cast of Glee will be performing for the first time live on stage outside of the USA, so feel, very, very special.

Noel Fielding joins E4

The E4 fairies have just whispered into my ear that Noel Fielding will star in his first solo series which will be on E4 2011.

Currently titled Noel Fielding: Boopus, the project is described as a mixture of sketches, characters, art and animation as well as some celebridee guests. Oh and if you're a big fan of infusing, you're in luck as it is described as being "all infused with the singularly bizarre, fantastical and magical style which Fielding has made his own". Phew.

Our C4 Comedy Commissioner Nerys Evans said:

"We are so delighted to be working with Noel on this beautifully unique series. It’s a real passion piece for him which makes it hugely exciting for us. It merges Noel’s fantastical character comedy into beautifully animated art, as well as being, most importantly, laugh out loud funny."

In-between eating glitter on a marshmallow cloud, Noel Fielding said:

"I want to make something in the spirit of Spike Milligan or the Kenny Everett Show but using modern techniques. Blending filmed comedy with animation. Television needs a madman! I want the show to be psychedelic and beautiful but have charm and personality. If Dali made a show hopefully it would look like this."
