So on Monday Hollyoaks Later kicks off again – HOORAY – and as we look forward to a week long celebration of late night Hollyoaks naughtiness, we thought it only fair to look back at the phenomena of this Hollyoaks spin-off:
Hollyoaks Later 2008 – the one that started it all
Thank goodness for that piece of falling masonry which failed to kill Vile Niall when he tried to exploderise the McQueens. If that piece of stone hadn't been so rubbish at killing psychotic hairdressers then Niall would have perished and thus robbed us of the joy of his intrepid stalking of Steph, Tom and - a back-for-one-week-only - Craig (yay!), as Myra's lovechild headed to Scotland for a lot of creeping around mountains and a little death. His death.
It wasn’t all about Niall though. The Dirty Diegos headed off to Liverpool for Battle of the Bands and, in some helpful preparatory work for future Hollyoaks Laters, we were also treated to Mercedes and Malachy getting hitched in Ireland and Sarah and Zoe getting, er, it on. If that wasn’t enough, we also met Hollyoaks legends in-the-making Cheryl, Lynsey and Loretta.
Not too shabby.
Hollyoaks Later 2009 – the one where Sarah probably regretted going skydiving
The second Hollyoaks Later saw the second Hollyoaks Later wedding, as Tony and Cindy tied the knot. It’s probably worth noting then that Hollyoaks Later marriages are, even by Hollyoaks standards, particularly unsuccessful.
A McQueen quartet of Theresa, Michaela, Carmel and Jacqui took London by storm and got themselves either arrested for being suspected prostitutes or rejected by their good for nothing jailbird Mum (hello and welcome to Kathleen McQueen!)
Hannah, Josh and Rhys, meanwhile, went to a festival and got into no end of bother with drug dealing ice cream men and drunken freestyling. Remember when Josh freestyled? It was...interesting.
Arguably the most memorable happening of this Later, however, was the spectacular demise of Sarah, who came a cropper when, her spooky jealous girlfriend, Lydia's attempt to bump off love rival Zoe went somewhat awry.
Never go skydiving with your spooky jealous girlfriend – it's thanks to Hollyoaks Later that we learnt this important life lesson.

Hollyoaks 2010 – the one with the cagefighting
So last year's Hollyoaks Later was a Costello fest. In what is turning out to be a recurring theme, Carl's past came back to bite him in the backside (not literally) and Riley and Seth were forced to cage fight TO THE DEATH (again, not literally). There was lots of running. And footballers. And a samurai sword.
Back in the village, the saga that is Jart began in earnest as Bart discovered that his beloved Jasmine was, in fact, mystery hat wearer Jason - he then got a bit stabbed for his troubles too.
Elsewhere in the world of the McQueens things were as busy as ever. Theresa gave birth to her Valentine love child and Mercedes took a break from pretending to Malachy that he’d given her HIV and instead got jiggy with Jamil. These McQueens, where do they find the time?
