In tonight’s episode of Hollyoaks, Kris and co are disgusted with Archie after finding out he’s been supplying Elliot with drugs.

Elliot lies in hospital after collapsing and Archie attempts to bargain for Elliot’s silence when Nancy, Kris and Zak return. A confused Elliot explains that Archie was using him to guineapig his new designer drugs. Kris goes ballistic at Archie, and Archie decides to leave Hollyoaks for good…

What's your opinion - what do you think Archie’s mates should have done? Does Archie deserve to be driven out of Hollyoaks for what he did to Elliot?

Jorgie Porter (Theresa)

Who’d have thought Theresa had it in her? We sure didn’t! We understand you might still be reeling from the big reveal on Friday, but calm yourself for a second, take a breather and peep this news.

The gorgeous gunwoman, Jorgie Porter (Theresa), will be sitting in for a live chat tonight (Tuesday 25 May) at 7pm. This will be your chance to ask her all your burning questions, so don’t miss it!

Those of you who got in on the action last week will know the drill already, but for all you Johnny Come Latelies out there, here’s the deal: Just send your name, address, age and phone number to hollyoaksblackberry@e4.com, and we’ll give you the special password to access the live web chat with Jorgie Porter. It’s as simple as that. Then, just because we’re feeling a little generous, we’ll automatically enter you into a special prize draw for one of five pairs of tickets to T4 on the Beach 2010.

This week’s Hollyoaks musical highlights:

Well it’s been a week of mystery on Hollyoaks this week, while we all wonder just who did shoot Calvin? In a slight change to the norm, key music tracks have been used across the week to create a sense on continuity with the elements of this weeks’ episodes taken from the special sneak peek episode shown a few months back.

The tracks used most predominantly were:

Hybrid – ‘Formula of Fear’ - ominous piano notes combine with Hybrid’s trademark strings & dirty bass to work perfectly for moments of tension and anticipation across the week. Originally released back in 2008 this track has also made it onto the bands latest album ‘Dissapear Here’ which was released in March 2010.

Patch William – ‘Jealousy’ - another track which features a few times throughout the week. Patch William are set for great things, having recently been honoured with a nomination for best song musically & lyrically at the Ivor Novello awards. Sadly they were just pipped at the post by Lily Allen’s ‘The Fear’, but just to get a nomination at such an early stage in their career was still a fantastic achievement. Check out their website for more info about this exciting upcoming band:

http://patchwilliam.net/

Sonny & Cher – ‘I Got You Babe’ - of course this week wouldn’t have been complete without a couple of uses of the track that Calvin & Carmel quoted as part of their wedding vows. All together now, awwww. Poor Carmel, how quickly her dream day turned into a nightmare.

On our stereo this week:

Foals - 'Miami' -

A very funky offering from this Oxford quintet's new album 'Total Life Forever'. The track reclines casually on a lazy hip-hop style beat and the melody is pleasingly reminiscent of The Cure. The style of the song is considerably different from their earlier work, pushing their sound forward whilst still retaining their trademark style. No 'difficult' second album for Foals then.  Well done them!

Two Door Cinema Club – ‘Something Good Can Come (The Twelves remix)’

We’re just a little bit addicted to this fantastic remix. We’ve heard a few good Two Door Cinema Club remixes recently, but something about this one just keeps pulling us back for more. Coming from Rio De Janeiro’s answer to Daft Punk there’s not much to say except pure class.

Coming up next week listen out for tracks from Blood Red Shoes & Friendly Fires.

Until then!

So, poor old Calvin’s been done in. Hunk, dancer, bent-copper, McQueen-bedder – he’s given us lots to talk about over the years and it will be hard letting go.

But what do you guys think? Did he deserve it? What's gonna happen now...?

Image: Calvin. Calvin mania,

Hello there! Just out of interest, do you live under a rock? Do you call a cave your home? Or perhaps you’re a native to the moon? If you’ve answered yes to any of the above you probably should know – this Friday (21st May) Calvin Valentine is shot dead! Shock! Horror!

So, in the build-up to this Hollyoaks murder mystery we’ll be marking the passing of one of our most beloved characters with various Calvin capers.

Today, we’ve got a video interview with Claire Cooper (Jacqui McQueen), as she talks us through the McQueens involvement in the Calvin murder mystery.

On Tuesday we’ll be having a live chat with Ricky Whittle (the dude who plays Calvin). To ask Ricky a question you’ll need to register. It’s free to register and, as an added bonus, everyone who signs up stands the chance of winning tickets to go to T4 on the Beach!

On Wednesday we’ll be starting our competition for you guys to win signed Ricky Whittle pix. Just think, you’ll be able to get your pervy palms on photos of that muscle-y physique! Swoon!

Come Thursday we’ll be giving you Ricky Whittle’s leaving video. Tears will be shed, let me tell you!

And finally, we’ll be giving you an interview with Calvin’s killer! Who’s the killer? Well, you’ll just have to tune in to find out!

Image: Music blog This week’s Hollyoaks musical highlights:

‘Death Letter’ by The White Stripes –We suggested this song from the band’s ‘De Stijl’ album to the director at script stage as lyrically it tied in really well with the menu sequence which involved different characters receiving threatening letters!

‘One Life Stand’ by Hot Chip – The lyrics of the track deal with the idea of life-long loyalty in a relationship. The opening scene was scripted as various characters going back on their marriage vows or fantasising about a dream wedding, so we thought this catchy ditty from Hot Chip’s new album of the same name would work perfectly. The director also cleverly played on the line “a balloon where they’re escaping” by having Zak miserably pop a balloon on screen to end the menu sequence. Nice syncing!

‘Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix)– Ellie Goulding - We’ve been keen to use this remix for a while, as it maintains some strong elements of  the excellent  Ellie Goulding original but also contains a filthy dubstep kick-in. The drop was timed well to emphasise the contrast between the happy couples seen at the beginning of the scene and Steph’s sadness at the end.

Dionne Bromfield - 'Foolish Little Girl' - Originally a hit for The Shirelles in 1963, the song is taken from Dionne's debut album “Introducing Dionne Bromfield”. Given her tender age of 13yrs old at the time of recording, Amy Winehouses' God-daughter delivers an amazingly accomplished album of cover versions, which reflects her love of motown girl groups. This track worked perfectly for the stylised, 60's-inspired opening sequence in which we see  Carmel & Mercedes fighting over Calvin. It's amazing they could keep their heads up with those false eye lashes!

On our stereo this week:

Surfer Blood – ‘Swim’

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AEldiUP408

If you like Weezer or Pixies, but have always pondered what they would sound like with buckets of warm reverb on the vocals then you will probably enjoy this slice of melodic, grungy power-pop.  The young American band are touring the UK at the moment and have just released their debut album. The video is very amusing as well!

The Black Keys - 'Tighten Up'

http://www.myspace.com/theblackkeys

Released on 12" vinyl for Record Store Day and the only track from the forthcoming album produced by Danger Mouse (who produced their previous album Attack & Release) this track treats us to a slick soul vibe, a departure from their usual heavy Blues Rock sound. Mr.Mouse not only produced the track but also added his skills on the Hammond organ. The rest of the album is produced by Dan Auerbach & Patrick Carney of the Black Keys along with Mark Neill and so it is with great anticipation we await the May 18th release of 'Brothers' to see which direction it takes.

In next weeks special wedding Hollyoaks watch out for tracks by Hybrid and Patch William

Until then!

British Soap Awards – Spectacular Scene of the Year!

Here at Hollyoaks we love any excuse for a party and this week we really have got cause to celebrate. This Saturday night everyone who was anyone in the showbiz world could be seen flaunting their wares on the red-carpet for the annual British Soap Awards. The Hollyoaks team scooped up the award for ‘Spectacular Scene of the Year’, with Sarah Barnes’ (Louis Batley) fated skydive in late-nights. For those of you who didn’t tune in (tut tut) this was part of the Lydia-Zoe-Sarah love-triangle story that ran last year and culminated in bunny-boiler extraordinaire Lydia trying to stab our beloved Zoe on New Years’ Eve.

This award just goes to show that Hollyoaks is the most daring of all the soaps – the sky really is the limit. Exec Producer Paul Marquess had this to say:

“The Hollyoaks parachute jump left all the other shows standing. It's possibly the most spectacular scene ever in a British soap - and thoroughly deserved to win the award”.

So, kudos to everyone who voted and big-ups to all the team involved!

So then, the big day is dawning for Calvin and Carmel. But does a life of post-nuptial bliss await the happy couple? And will they even make it to the aisle? It looks as if Mercedes is going to do everything in her power to spoil the party.

But what do you think about all this drama? Will it be alright on the night? And should Carmel even be marrying Calvin, or is Mercedes’ intervention going to prove a blessing in disguise for her sister?

This week’s Hollyoaks musical highlights:

Plan B – She Said

Taken from the concept album ‘The Defamation of Strickland Banks’, this track highlights a departure in style from Ben Drew aka Plan B’s previous offerings. Showcasing a slightly wistful Smokey Robison-style vocal this song fitted perfectly with the scene in which we find Malachy feeling blue about the state of his relationship with Mercedes while surrounded by other loved-up couples.

Ellie Goulding – Salt Skin

A lovely way to round off Ellie Goulding’s debut album ‘Lights’, the vocals of this melodic electro track once again echo the difficult place Malachy & Mercedes’ relationship finds itself in. Fans of Midlake might be interested to check out Ellie’s haunting version of the (in our humble opinion) classic track ‘Roscoe’.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm83esswvBo

Vampire Weekend – I Think UR Contra

One of the more mellow tracks taken from ‘Contra’, Vampire Weekend’s album which carries us along on a wave of swift lilting African rhythms, a sound purportedly coined ‘Upper West Side Soweto’ by the band’s front-man Ezra Koenig. One of the highlights of the album for us was the video produced for the first single Cousins, which you can check out here:

http://www.myspace.com/vampireweekend

On our stereo this week:

Crystal Castles – ‘Celestica’

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYg6SPJ8zUA

Ace come-back single from the Ontario two-piece taken from their new album ‘Crystal Castles II.’ A beautifully melodic electro track which steps up the gears nicely, carrying the melancholic verse melody cleverly into a sleek chorus. We used a lot of their debut album on the ‘Oaks so expect to hear some more in the future!

Kid Adrift – ‘Red Green & Blue’

Not a new track but in preparation for his forthcoming gig as part of Liverpool’s Sound City festival (he’ll be appearing at The Shipping Forecast on Friday 21st May) this twisted pop track with dark dubstep undertones has made a welcome return back on to the music department’s speakers.

You can hear the track here

Coming up next week in Hollyoaks listen out for ‘Death Letter’ by White Stripes, ‘One Life Stand’ by Hot Chip, and the fantastic Jakwob remix of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Starry Eyed’.

Until then!

Well, election-day has been and gone. It was exciting while it lasted but as we wait for the dust to settle and let the big wigs finish squabbling between themselves, why not re-live the drama and excitement of election day all over again by voting for Hollyoaks at the British Soap Awards.

Our little show has been nominated in a number of categories, including sexiest male, sexiest female, villain of the year, best actor, best actress and best soap. The votes have now been closed on all of these categories now, so it’s a case of crossing fingers, but in the meantime there’s still time to do the right thing by your favourite show, because votes are still being taken for Best British Soap. Votes close today though, so if you want to have your say then you better act quick! To vote go here:

British Soap Awards.

So go on, exercise your democratic right and make sure Hollyoaks gets top spot. You know you want to…

Hollypops now closed.

Musos of Britain, the bell has tolled, the figurative fat lady has sung her lungs out and time has been called on this year's applications for Hollypops. We've had loads of great songs sent in from some really exciting new acts and now begins the long and painful process of trying to decide who deserves best to have a spot on the live Hollyoaks Music Show with Matalan.co.uk. Hollypops is a competition run by the good people at camp Hollyoaks, which allows young and hopefuls (and some oldies too) to get their songs heard on live television as part of the Hollyoaks music show with Matalan.co.uk.The bands will also be able to borrow one of our lovely cast members for the day, who will help show them off to the world. Sounds good doesn't it?

But if you missed your chance to send in a song this year, then don't despair, all is not lost and there are still spaces left to be part of the audience for the live shows, which will be filmed over three weekends (15th and 16th May, 29th and 30th May and 5th and 6th June). We've got some great acts confirmed already, including Cascada, Diana Vickers and Professor Green. If you want to see all the fun close up then go to this page : "Be in the audience", to see how to apply.

We had loads of fun on last year's show, and this year promises to be every bit as good. Get involved and we'll see you at the front kids!

P.S. Just time also for a shameless plug: it’s the big vote happening this week…the British Soap Awards that is, of course. Don’t forget to vote Hollyoaks for best British soap.

Image: Dave, India and India's sister Texas

Posh student India Longford is soon in for a shock when her older sister Texas turns up to surprise her on her birthday!

Dave and Charlotte arrange a secret murder mystery weekend and invite Texas and Josh along for the fun. But the surprise doesn’t go down too well with the birthday girl…

Not only is Josh out of favour with India following the drunken car crash shenanigans and his violent jealousy of her relationship with Rhys, but India’s big sister doesn’t exactly bring a smile to her face either. India has always struggled to live up to Tex, and hates that Tex always takes centre stage – especially when Dave and Charlotte make a bet over who will get to bed Tex first!

Texas is 20 years old, and a force of nature. She doesn’t care how she looks and yet always manages to look fantastic. Although she has an almost super-natural ability to make other people feel good about themselves, Tex is quite fragile and vulnerable at heart. She’s had bad boyfriends, drug problems and been bankrupted. India’s life looks set to get a whole lot more complicated now big sis’ has turned up! Look out for her arrival on screen on Monday 17 May…

We’ll be bringing you more photos of new Hollyoaks hottie Texas, so keep your eyes peeled peeps!
