Tony's episode - thoughts please?

So Tony's episode was a little 'out there', to say the least! A strange one that finally saw Tony getting his life back and getting that little bit nearer to getting the girl (Michelle) back.

Not sure how much was meant to be real or not - was it all in his imagination? Did he even go to the open day?

We just can't seem to work it out. Any ideas?

It reminded me of Alice in wonderland because Tony always seemed to be chasing Beth like Alice chases the white rabbit. All the way through I knew I'd heard certain lines before but I only clicked when the woman who was showing him around said 'There's always cheese and wine!' exactly like the Mad Hatter says 'There's always crumpets and tea!'

Remember at the start when Effy is reading Tony a story in bed? The story is Orpheus. This explains the episode! Orpheus is a man in Greek mythology who journeys through the underworld after his wife dies.. he 'finds himself' on this journey, the moral of the story is 'never look back'. Tony obviously didn't ACTUALLY go to the university, but underwent a journey while Effy was reading Orpheus to him. What a fantastic episode!

a very abstract episode but i think the way in which it was put over was that it was only in tony's mind a sort of way that let tony go inside his mind and break through the barrier.

Ive had a brain wave, do you relise who that mystery girl was? Think about it, Beginning of the episode, when Beth frist appears in the toilet, she says ''so you want to sleep your sister?'' Then, if we think back to Tony and Effys relationship, Effy is the only person that can save him. Now add it all up.. Beth looks like a older version of Effy.. and the episode was very abstract. Now for the slammer. Beth.. Effy.. both abriveations for Elizabeth, Effy Stonems real name. We have our finished product.
