Things I've Learned From Writing On Skins:

1. Everyone's trying to make good telly all the time. The only difference between something rubbish and something brilliant is circumstances, hard work and a whole lot of luck.
2. Other people often understand what you're writing better than you do and will have useful ideas on how to improve your stuff. Listen to them.
3. 'Relentless' is an unbelievable hardcore energy drink.
4. On screen, what people do is much more interesting that what they say.
5. Never, ever turn down a free trip to Lithuania.
6. The internet is bonkers. All of it.
7. Your audience know your characters better than you do.
8. Writing for a living is a brilliant but very, very hard job.
9. Sometimes it's worth it.

I would also like to note that there have been some saving features (Cook's episode did make his character more likable, as did Katie's). The music is still strong compared to most shows, as is the cinematography. The characters are somewhat unique (though I did prefer the first generation). I'm looking forward to season 5, as well as the next episodes (though less so). I just wanted to warn you that you may be isolating some fans by taking the show off the dramatic deep end.

I’ve been contemplating getting an account on this site ever since the fourth season came out. Why? Because Skins needs to realize that this season is completely isolating its mature watchers. That’s right Skins, you have a whole demographic of people in their mid/late 20’s and early 30’s who watch your show because of its smart humour, semi-realistic plotline, beautiful cinematography, wonderful music, and its progressive political statements (we love that it challenged beliefs about drugs, sex, sexual orientation, and the likes).

This season the humour is lacking, as the plot is jumping all over the place. It is completely unrealistic and disappointing. The whole drug/suicide thing was disappointing, there was a good almost save with Naomi admitting that the death wasn't their fault because it was a suicide, but then Cook confesses. I thought Skins was progressive and knew not to blame things on drugs, but instead irresponsibility. Also, Katie is going through menopause? This may be more likely in twins, but premature menopause usually happens to people in their 20's, 30's, and 40's, NOT their teens. This is yet another unrealistic plotline. Why not show Katie dealing with ONE issue, rather than a plethora of them all in one go. TOO MUCH DRAMA!

The cinematography is still gold, so kudos to that. However, the music has been somewhat disappointing. I realize that you have some irritating characters that shouldn't have any friends because no sane person should ever allow someone to treat them the way that these characters do (Cook, Katie). However, just because the characters are lack luster, doesn't mean that the music has to be (generally it is still good, but with some crap thrown in here and there). Finally, Emily's episode (who was many people's favourite character) was a waste. Film noir? You sacrificed plot for "Film Noir"?! Disappointing Skins, disappointing! I hope you pick it up from here on out, because otherwise you're going to be catering solely to your teen audience.
