Brian faces at least two months in prison but why won't Tripp help him? The Darling family has enough influence in New York to make sure Brian avoids prison but Tripp seems to have something against him. Nick can’t work out why Tripp and Letitia are acting so strangely and badgers Letitia in to telling him the truth: and discovers that Brian is his half brother.
The news is a huge shock for Nick who finally understands why his father was acting so strangely the last time they met. Worse, Nick feels guilty for ignoring Dutch when he was clearly trying to tell him the truth. Brian doesn’t take it well either especially as he is powerless to stop his own son leaving for Brazil. The only good thing to come out of the news is that Brian finally stops hating Nick and accepts the gift of Dutch’s watch - only to pass it on to Brian Jr as a way to remember him.
Patrick really should learn to forget Carmelita, especially as his wife (the one that shot him) says it's either his mistress or his chances of becoming senator. As much as he tries he can’t leave his lover, nor can he stop taking advice from Simon Elder who is plotting something including ways of seducing Karen Darling. As usual Simon gets what he wants.
Meanwhile Jeremy is in danger of being dumped by the lovely Sofia if she doesn't see his flat or see some ambition from the supposed 'valet'. He panics and tells her he's really a struggling artist and offers to paint his now impressed girlfriend. Of course he needs Lisa to explain what art is and get the number of an artist to do the work for him! But is that all the young lothario wants from Lisa?
