E4's Fictional Emergency Comedy Commissioning Editor puts each of this year's shows through the one-minute pitch process...
So sell it to me hard, baby
Stand back and watch as we get to see susceptible celebrities and beyond-normal stereotypes behave the way we wished they would…
Interesting... but that little hand's ticking, so picture me as an E4 viewer. Go!
Ape is comedy sketches and hidden-camera stunts, written and performed by Liam Hourican. Liam "apes" well-known faces including Louis Theroux, Boris Johnston, Mohammed Al Fayed and Peter Stringfellow in amongst a goofy mix of hidden camera stunts and original comedy characters
We're literally tripping over old faces here at E4; so slap me with your freshly minted talent.
Liam Hourican trained as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He has performed at Shakespeare’s Globe, the Old Vic, and the Arcola Theatre in London, and while in Dublin he has worked with The Performance Corporation, Classic Stage Ireland and Second Age Theatre Company.
Let's blue sky for a moment. You've landed in my lap and I've decided to groom you. How much grooming can you take?
People watching will love Liam doing the gaffe-prone Boris "Bo Jo" Johnson, the g-string wearing lotahrio that is Peter Stringfellow and everyone's favourite young-fogey, Louis Theroux. On a series things would go even more silly as more famous faces get the ape treatment and Liam's original character creations, like Donnie The Chugger (in your face fund raising) and Councillor Ken ("say no to drugs") get unleashed on a baffled public.
Time's up. I've got a two o'clock with Edgar-Jones in the Groucho.
Well, we'll leave you our favourite
Ape clips to watch later.
