Dice Wars

It's about time Risk made its debut on our computer screens... what's that? This isn't really risk? Yes it is.

Review

This game uses dice to make Risk - the longest board game in the known world (save perhaps Go) - a lot quicker. For the benefit of anyone unfamiliar with the board game of global domination, it's a board game about global domination. You play one colour and 'attack' other colours on the map using towers of dice - the more dice you have compared to the defending territory, the more likely it is you'll score higher than the defender and capture that position.

If you win, your tower of dice moves into the new position, minus one which stays behind (and one dice by itself can't attack anything). You can attack as many times as possible during one turn, then the game counts your largest number of linked areas, and gives you more dice accordingly - so, the greater the territory you control, the more powerful you rapidly become.

Controls

Mouse click on dice you want to attack with, then click on any adjacent enemy territory to attack (or 'End turn' if you prefer).

Tips

It takes a while to get used to the various strategies (mainly hiding small towers behind larger ones) - you may find it simpler to start on the 2-player game, though whoever goes first often has a big advantage there, so you may want to restart (using the top-right arrow) if green's looking too powerful.
