Junk Food Jack

Retro tinged classic, achingly similar to an old ZX Spectrum favourite as your clown platforms in a pixelly fashion
Added: 10/11/2008 | Played: 1234

Review

"If you like your gaming action retro-flavoured", opens Pete, then "head this way, as it's classic fodder". What he's trying to say is that this is clearly inspired by the old ZX Spectrum stairway-jumper "Jet Set Willy" (which you can play on the Hob Spectrum emulator), combined with a more modern Burger Man-style critique of the fast food industry.

As Jack, a somewhat familiar-looking clown, you leap around an estimated 42 rooms, avoiding the shakes, fries and other burger ingredients, and collecting stars ("presumably for promotion", reckons Pete) and the keys which open doors to other levels. "Simple graphics", an "annoying soundtrack" and what Pete describes as "brutal collision detection" will, he believes, "all contribute to this game getting under your skin... and staying there".

Controls

Arrow keys for left and right, Up arrow (or Space bar) to jump.

Tips

Don't worry too much about collecting the stars at first - just look out for the keys and the gaps in the walls which lead to other rooms.
