Pot against the clock. According to David McGinley, this is 'easy to use', has 'secret levels' and 'plays a very good - no, not good, excellent game of pool'. We'll just point out that it's not any game of Pool that we'd recognise, and it's you who ends up doing all of the playing - as you try to pocket the balls each level demands before the time runs out in the classic Blast Billiards sort of way.

Still, if your computer's not up to 3D Pool and you find Caramba a bit confusing, this could be the 8-ball in your top pocket. The site's keen to encourage you to enter their online competition (open to all UK residents aged 16 or over, all entries cost £1.50 at time of writing, please check with whoever pays your phone bill) - in which case surely the instant-elimination if you hit the later levels' 'lightning bolts' is a bit of an own goal?

Controls

Move mouse to rotate cue, hold down button to select strength, release to shoot.

Tips

Position the crosshairs where you want the cue ball to go (and where you want to hit the other balls).
