Mined Out

Most Windows users (especially ones who've had boring temp jobs) will be familiar with the Minesweeper game that comes free with most PCs, but here's an even more action-packed version that users of all operating systems can enjoy.

Melvin the Missionary is trying to cross a minefield with a mine detector which tells him how many mines are nearby, but doesn't tell him where they are. As an added thrill, the quicker he crosses each minefield, the more points you get.

It's a great example of a strong concept overcoming some fairly basic no-frills presentation (though it'd be less annoying if it showed you where all the mines were after you've blown up).
