Rails of War

Do you like playing trains? Of course you do, who doesn't? But these trains have great big cannons - nice

Review

Military train set. Think of this as a more scenic sequel to Final Fortress - you're still in charge of a bunch of cannons blasting away at an army of enemy planes and vehicles, and you're still viewing the action from above, but now the battleground scrolls past as you follow the railway's twists and turns, like a war-torn Candy Train.

While there's plenty of shooting, we've filed this under 'Strategy' because it seems just as important to buy the right weapons and rolling stock in the (only moderately baffling) shopping stage. The action's a bit slow in places, but still makes you think you could beat that level with just one more go, Flash Element TD-style.

Controls

Mouse to aim, mouse button to fire, mouse click to select other on-screen options, left and right arrow keys to accelerate and decelerate, M to display map (and pause).

Tips

The Possible Extra Load in the shopping stage seems to be shown in kg (1000kg = 1 metric ton) - you can add other wagons at any point in the game (it's easiest if the train is stationary), but have to actually stop the train in a station for repairs.
