You don't control the skier here... you control the piste. You still have to hit the gates, and gather speed and keep it, it's just that you're not using your legs to do this, you're using the angles of the snow below his or her feet.

If you hit a gate right, you're rewarded with a burst of speed and a huge flowing rainbow cape. If you applied this to the winter olympics viewing figures would hit the roof... jus' sayin'.
