Steel Defence Commander

You control the ground and air forces in this twist on the traditional vertically scrolling shooting game

Review

From the author of Cat Death Auto (and, it goes almost without saying, the slightly less interactive Badger Badger Badger Badger - Mushroom Mushroom) comes a new slant on an old genre - the old genre being the vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up, and the new slant being: you control the ground and air forces that are being shot at so enthusiastically.

On the plus side, it's not like you don't have any weapons of your own, from tanks, mines and gun turrets to waves of fighters whooshing down the screen. It's fairly easy to beat on "Easy" once you get your head round the idea, but then there's three other difficulty levels (plus a clever 2-player mode).

Controls

Mouse click on fighter or (paralysing) EMP buttons (on the right) to launch attack waves, or click on individual tanks etc to make them fire.

Tips

The fighter's shield recharges over time, but hull damage (when the shield is down) is more permanent, so you really need to keep up your onslaught.
