Carl Costello (played by Paul Opacic)
Naughty naughty Carl Costello.
This ex-footballer with a bad reputation came to the village to start a new life with long-suffering missus Heidi and their troublesome brood – though it was soon revealed that he was having an affair with Heidi's minxy cousin Mitzeee. Oops!
Carl was forgiven however and he soon settled into his role as landlord/owner of The Dog and slightly domineering father to Riley, Seth, Jasmine and Jem (who, let's be honest, ran off to get away from him. Again).
While he was eventually supportive of Jasmine's transformation into Jason, his Father of the Year award might be on hold thanks to his affair with, and suspected impregnation of, Riley's fiancée Mercedes. The Father of the Year people probably frown on that sort of thing.
When his wife Heidi was murdered by his father-in-law Silas, Carl decided it was time for a fresh start and left for America, taking Jason with him.
