Ol' Dirky boy. A genuine diamond geezer and, officially, the owner of the twinkliest eyes in Hollyoaks.
Dirk's always on the look out for any way to make a few quid, but, at the centre of all that is always his family. For Dirk, chief hunter-gatherer of the Savage clan (that also includes Will, Dodger and Liberty), family is everything.
Dodger's always been the 'chip off' to Dirky's 'old block', so it was a massive shock to the former when he discovered that Dirk wasn't actually his biological Dad. Nevertheless, Dirk's always loved him like his own.
The other love of Dirk's life, apart from his kids and West Ham, is Myra McQueen, or, as she's known to him – 'Mama Bear'.
About David Kennedy...
Something you may not have known about Dirk Kennedy is that he was born Dirk Mallett. Relation to Timmy? We're yet to ascertain. He's also appeared in loads of films and telly shows, including Ashes to Ashes, Trial and Retribution, Ultimate Force, The Bill, Waking The Dead, Reign of Fire and more. He's even been in a film with Steven Seagal, called Attack Force!
Our favourite entry in his CV though, other than his portrayal of Dirk Savage (obvi), is when he played 'Billy Two Hats' in William and Mary. We're not sure what the role encompassed, but we'd say it probably involved wearing more than one hat.
From the horse's mouth...
Sum up your character in five words: Solid, reliable, naughty, lazy, cheeky.
On a scale of one to ten, how similar to your character are you? Haha! Probably about a 7 or 8 as I'm not that dissimilar to Dirk but I think I'm a bit less work shy!
Funniest moment on set: When the Savages first arrived in Holloaks we lived in a small camper van-me, Dodger, Will, Liberty (sometimes) and Dennis. It was chaos trying to film in there and on one ocassion when we were filming the Indian themed leaving party for Dennis, we had me, Dodger, Liberty, Dennis, Leanne plus the camera operator, camera assistant, boom operator, director and first AD (10 people) all in the van at the same time. It was hysterical.
Pet hate: As an ex smoker I hate smoking and the smell of smoke. As a Spurs fan I hate Arsenal.
Most embarrassing moment (in life, not on set): Too many to mention...
Biggest achievement: Getting to work on time.
Ideal man/woman: Nana McQueen
Favourite film: Alien. The first film is by far the best and ahead of it's time.
