He might not seem it now, but once upon a time our Ste was the local badboy and abusive boyfriend of long suffering Amy. No!
Happily for us, though, he changed his wicked ways to become a responsible father to Leah and Lucas, confidante to Amy and all-round lovely fella
It hasn't all been plain sailing for him, though. A job at Chez Chez brought him into the flightpath of one Brendan Brady and so began the twisted love/hate/love/hate/love romance that is Stendan - and we've been gripped ever since.
All sorts of obstacles have come between them - pregnant girlfriends, fitness instructors, angry wives and long lost sons, however it was Brendan's issues with his sexuality and his propensity for violence that stopped them truly being together.
Poor Ste often found himself victim of this domestic abuse and was horrified to discover that Brendan had murdered Danny Huston to protect him - a revelation that prompted Ste to exact violent revenge for all abuse he had suffered, beating Brendan with a baseball bat and landing him in hospital.
Though Brendan promised to change his ways and even declared his love, Ste was increasingly determined to no longer keep his sexuality a secret or be Brendan's punchbag. When the chance arose for Stendan to take their respective children on holiday to Disneyland, Ste gave Brendan an ultimatum: prove his love and come on holiday or else their relationship was over. Sadly, Brendan chose to take his son Declan to Blackpool and so Ste took Leah, Lucas and his broken heart to Florida on his own. Sob!
The Ste that returned was Ste 2.0: out, proud and determined never to be a victim again. He's stuck to his guns and avoided Brendan as much as possible, though he did once again find himself at the receiving end of Brendan's violence when he hid the whereabouts Declan when he ran away.
Ever the devoted father, Ste fought tooth and nail to stop Amy taking the kids to New York and spends most of his time caring from them - especially since Brendan sacked him from Chez Chez!
It's his lack of a job that has lead to Ste starting up a gourmet pizza business with Doug - an unlikely partnership if ever there was one, but it works! Yes, the bromance that is Stug has charmed us all. Bless.
Though Ste is still single - we'll ignore his failed attempt to romance hot Aussie newbie Ally - the prospect of a reunion with Brendan always hangs in the air. Will they ever get back together? Should they ever get back together? Needless to say, we have a sneaky feeling the Stendan rollercoaster isn't over yet...
Need proof? Well, there's the fact that Brendan secretly gave Doug the money to buy Cincerity when Stug were trying to make their dream of owning their own deli a reality. Having previously refused Brendan's money, Ste is totally in the dark that his ex now owns his business! What will Ste do if/when he finds out?
