Desperately Seeking:

Failure to adhere to any of the rules below may result in your entry not being considered by the judges.

1. You must be female, a UK resident and aged between 18 and 30 and be able to play an 18/19 year old character at the point this competition closes. Proof of age will be required if you are invited to audition.

2. The closing date for applications is Monday 22nd June 2009 at 23:59.

3. You must only read the part of India in the script

4. You must be the only person featured in your video and you must make sure that your video does not include any music or other copyright material (such as logos or posters) in the background.

5. You may enter this competition only once. If you enter more than once only your first entry will be considered by the judges.

6. Your video must be no longer than two minutes in duration, any longer and your video may not be considered by the judges.

7. Your video must be in the following formats: .mov .mp4 .mpg .wmv .3gp. If your video is not in one of these formats we may not be able to view it and your entry may not be considered by the judges.

8. You must upload your video file using the form. Whilst the file is uploading, you will see the word 'uploading' (clever); once the video has successfully uploaded, you will see the following message: ‘Thanks for your submission!’ (however, please take note of paragraph 30 of E4's Competition Terms & Conditions).

9. A selection of entries will appear on e4.com. If your entry does not appear on e4.com don’t panic – all valid entries will be viewed by the judges.

10. If your entry is shortlisted you will be invited to the Liverpool auditions. Travel and accommodation is not included so you will need to organise and pay for your own travel and accommodation.

11. If you are selected as one of the three finalists Lime Pictures will pay your reasonable travel costs up to a maximum of £100 for you to attend the winner announcement at the T4 studios in London. Payment for travel costs will be made on delivery of relevant receipts. Accommodation is not provided so you will be responsible for organising and paying for your own accommodation.

12. Lime Pictures and Channel 4 make no guarantee that the winner will be given a speaking role or how often the character of India will be featured in the programme.

13. The winner will be required to enter into a contract with Lime Pictures on Lime Pictures’ standard terms of engagement for artistes on Hollyoaks

14. The script provided for your audition video is owned by Lime Pictures Limited and Lime Pictures only give you permission to use the script for the purpose of recording your audition video to be submitted for “Desperately Seeking”. You agree that you will not use such script for any other purpose whatsoever (including but not in limitation reproduction, exhibition and/or exploitation of the same).

15. By submitting your audition video for “Desperately Seeking” you agree that Channel 4 and Lime Pictures (and third parties authorised by the same) may, for the purposes of running the “Desperately Seeking” competition or subsequent Hollyoakes competitions, use and make your video available on e4.com and on and through any other media whether now known or invented in future which may include internet sites, mobile, television, and/or radio (including without limitation other Channel 4 websites, Channel 4 television programmes and Channel 4’s official spaces on bebo.com, YouTube and/or other similar sites) and that your video may be made available with advertising and/or sponsorship. You now grant to Channel 4 and Lime Pictures (and third parties authorised by the same) a worldwide, irrevocable licence (for the full period of any rights in your video), for the purposes of running the “Desperately Seeking” competition or subsequent Hollyoakes competitions, to use, display, publish, reproduce, exhibit, show, transmit, copy, broadcast, exploit, make derivative works and/or podcasts from, edit, alter, store, re-format, sell and sub-licence your video without liability or acknowledgement to you and you hereby unconditionally and irrevocably give all necessary consents and waivers (including without limitation in respect of any moral rights and performers rights) for such purposes.

16. You agree that Channel 4 and Lime Pictures (and third parties authorised by the same) are entitled to issue publicity in relation to your video, in conjunction with the “Desperately Seeking” competition, and/or any material, service or programme in which your video may be included, and for such purposes to use and reproduce your name, age, likeness and photograph and your video.

17. You confirm that you are the sole author/owner of the video and own all rights (other than the rights in the script as set out above) in and to the same and are able to grant the rights granted hereunder.

18. You acknowledge and agree that the Desperately Seeking competition is a joint initiative between Channel 4 and its production partner Lime Pictures and you consent to personal information provided by you to be shared with Lime Pictures for the purposes of the competition.
