Performing on the Hollyoaks village stage this week was Pixie Lott with her new break-up ballad 'Cry Me Out'. The last time I saw such conviction and emotion shown in Hollyoaks village, Neville Ashworth was getting irate about a gang of hoodlums hanging around the Drive'N'Buy...
Our Pixie's not all sweetness and light though, no! Much like Neville's competitive pricing, Pixie too can attract a lairy crowd. In the audience was a staff-wielding Bronagh (Cheryl) and a gawping Elliot James Langridge (Dave), who was both behind her metaphorically and literally. Pixie kept the leering crowd at bay with a high-energy performance of her not-all-the same-but-blatantly-identical-to-Rihanna's-Shut-Up-And-Drive-number-one-hit 'Boy and Girls'.
We talk to Pixie Lott about our idea of ending the credit crunch. It involves her legs.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Taio Cruz is the first R&B singer with six top 30 singles to have performed his new single 'No Other One' in front of five Hollyoaks cast members. And boy, did he do it well! Such was the confidence of the man, Taio even had time to advertise his Rokstarr sunglasses mid-song, "Rockstarr shades and you look so stunning". What a salesman!
Other facets from Taio's Il Gnosh performance that need to be noted: Taio wore a Black Sabbath T-shirt – can't wait to hear the impending heavy metal direction his garments imply! Taio's drummer is the happiest drummer in all of the land – is this something to do with the contents of his backpack, which he insisted on wearing throughout the performance? Oi! Drummer! What's in your bag!?
One's like Minnie Mouse and one's vivacious - together they're Vivacious Mouse! Actually, they're called Mini Viva, but wouldn't Vivacious Mouse be a great name for band? No? Ok.
After a stomach-churningly amazing pop debut ('I Left My Heart In Tokyo') many a pop scribe was a-wondering how they could possibly follow it up, but with Xenomania (the production team behind Girls Aloud and Sugababes) helping out with the tunes, there was never a danger they come back with a flop. The northern girls, with inch perfect choreography accompaniment, sang their little hearts out and delivered their second single, 'I Wish', which would have 80s duo Mel & Kim glowing with surrogate parental pride.
