The Winners!

In late August, we asked you musically talented, yet criminally unsigned, lot to upload a track. Then, from the hundreds of top quality entries we received, our esteemed panel of judges picked their nine favourites.

These nine acts appeared throughout The Hollyoaks Music Show with Matalan.co.uk series and were championed by mentors. Their mentors weren't any old average Joes though! No, their mentors were Hollyoaks cast members!

We then asked for you to vote for your favourite act. The winner of the vote will get to appear in an actual bonfide episode of Hollyoaks! Outstanding!

We can now reveal that the winner of the unsigned competition...

... The winner is... Redtrack!

Southend-on Sea's finest punk trio, as mentored by Hollie-Jay Bowes (Michaela McQueen), wowed TV viewers nationwide and will now feature in an episode of Hollyoaks. Amazing! Well done, guys!

Here's what Billy, the Redtrack singer and guitarist, had to say:

"We were up against some really good bands and we were all really evenly matched, so to win the unsigned act competition is fantastic! We've now become mates with a couple of the bands from the show and we met Chipmunk, so it's been a really good experience for us. Our mentor Hollie-Jay helped us a lot. She was really cool and supportive."

Their mentor, Hollie-Jay, had this to say:

"I'm really chuffed Redtrack won the competition. They're a wicked band. I like them so much that I’ve now recorded a song with them. I recorded with them a week after we recorded the music show because I thought that they were that wicked! It turned out we had three or four mutual friends, so we met up and partied hard!

Other bands in the competition were good too. I loved The Dirty Chimes – how cute was their singer! I liked CircleStop! too, but that was mainly because Zoe mentored them!

I knew Redtrack were going to win as soon as I heard them!"
