Yes, you heard right - one of Hollyoaks' best-loved characters, Calvin Valentine, will be leaving the show... and it's going to blow your minds! In an unprecedented move, Hollyoaks bosses will hijack Channel 4's Monday night schedule by adding an extra guerrilla episode of Hollyoaks to tie in with the final of Strictly Come Dancing. The stand alone episode will 'flash forward' six months into the future and will see Ricky Whittle's character, Calvin Valentine , killed from a single gunshot by a mystery assassin on his wedding day to Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna).
Ricky has been wowing audiences with his moves on Strictly Come Dancing and following Saturday night's final, fans will be devastated by the episode which sees Calvin come face to face with enemies old and new - all with a motive to want him dead.
Tuesday's episode of Hollyoaks (Channel 4, 6.30pm) will return to the present, with the months that follow building to unravel the mysteries of the big day, when the special episode will be played out over a week and all will be revealed...
Ricky Whittle said: "It's an honour to be involved in such an unprecedented television event. This has never been done in soap and will take the audience on a roller coaster that they will want to ride until the end!" While Lucy Allan, Hollyoaks Series Producer, has commented: "This has been a truly exciting project and one that we're sure will keep the audience guessing well into 2010."
Camilla Campbell, Head of Drama for Channel 4, said: "For the first time we saw the opportunity to mix up reality and fiction and rip up the traditional soap format. Off the back of Ricky's superb performance in Strictly, Channel 4 will drop in a special episode that skips forward a few months to a major storyline involving Ricky's on-screen character, Calvin Valentine. It's an ambitious first for Hollyoaks and promises to be an intriguing and exciting twist for viewers."
So make sure you don't miss all the action on Hollyoaks by tuning in on Monday (21 December) from 6pm!
