We caught up with new Hollyoaks: The Morning After the Night Before cast member Elliot James Langridge (Dave Colburn) to chat about his cocky character Dave, and what he thinks about the show...
Why do you think Dave invited Josh to Manchester?
I think Dave's character is quite destructive so he's probably lost his friends where he's from, so he's moved onto the Hollyoaks lot to get some more mates. So it's probably through things Dave's done and people he's annoyed that he's just trying to find some new friends really.
What does Dave think of Josh's friends and family?
I think at first he's not too sure about them because Dave's a different kind of person to them. But I think Dave warms to them towards the end of it. Dave has a little soft spot for Sasha. Being Dave, he's thinking more of a short term kind of thing – a notch on the belt probably! And I think he's not too keen on Rhys because Dave's got his eye on keeping his crew together and making sure they can carry on going out, and anyone who threatens that fun is in Dave's line of fire.
Does Dave's perception of Josh's Hollyoaks friends change during their stay in Manchester?
Yes, at first Josh and Dave don't get on, but then they all form quite a tight knit group. Though after two weeks of seeing each other in Manchester things start to get a bit tangled... I can't say any more than that!
Do you think Sasha and Dave would make a good couple?
I'm not too sure really because I think it'd be alright for a while, but then Dave would get distracted or have a fling with someone else and just leave her.
What was the most difficult scene for you during filming?
I'd say the obvious one, which wasn't particularly difficult but I had to dress up in women's underwear, which was an embarrassing scene. So it wasn't particularly hard to do but it was a bit challenging in many ways! Thankfully it was all over quite quickly though.
Do you have any funny stories or embarrassing moments from the shoot to tell?
I don't know if it's funny but there was a scene we were doing where Josh was on stage and he smashes a guitar while trying to perform a song for one of the girls. We have to jump off the stage and get chased out by bouncers. I wanted to give it my all and I remember the 1st A.D. said you have to hop over the fence and off the stage so I really went for it and lunged into the crowd. It must have looked pretty good, but he was like "no don't do that again"! I was sort of stage diving, and nearly took out a few people. But that was a fun scene to do.
