E4 is Channel 4's digital station that's packed full of entertainment type stuff and is available on cable (ntl or Telewest), satellite (Sky) and Freeview. Woo hoo!
E4 is part of the basic subscription package on Sky and Virgin Media. If you have a digital box that receives Freeview, congratulations, you can watch E4 for free without subscription, so there really is no excuse not to tune in. E4+1 gives you another chance to see all your favourite shows on E4, but here’s the clever bit: the show is on one hour later! So if you forgot to put your clocks back, or you just like watching E4 stuff whilst pretending it is an hour earlier, then this is the channel for you.

So, you’re sat there with your feet up, ready to catch Skins on E4+1 and you can’t find the channel on your Freeview box, what do you do? Well in the IT world, they would refer to this as a 'reboot'. Or even more precisely, a digital box re-scan. Press ‘Menu’ or ‘Set Up’ on your remote control, then following the on-screen instructions – this will normally take a few minutes to complete. Easy
If you have a newer box, it will probably detect new channels automatically and display an on-screen message to let you know new channels have been found, in which case you probably won’t even be reading this section, but we just thought we'd put this in to thoroughly annoy any viewers reading this who own an older box
