Grandaddy - Am 180: We used to come on to this song in my first Edinburgh show. It's good for getting you going.
Midlake - Branches: I heard this on the radio and listened to it over and over again. It basically sounds a bit like Radiohead. But it's still a fine achievement in its own right. The piano part is really great.
The Divine Comedy - Tonight We Fly: I find this song very moving. Perhaps you will. It has nice lyrics.
Graham Coxon - Mountain of Regret: A good song for when you're sad.
Robert Wyatt- Shipbuilding: Robert Wyatt's got a really nice, innocent, school-boyish voice. It suits this song really well.
Elliot Smith - Say Yes: This is just a lovely delicate song.
Low - Sunflower: Low are great. This will hopefully get you into them, as it did me.
Radiohead - No Surprises: My favourite song.
Blur - Tender: The lyrics are a bit like a mantra 'come on come on come on, get through it'. You can listen to this when you're feeling really dreadful, and it won't be totally repulsive.
Nick Drake - Saturday Sun: Any Nick Drake song is fine. But why not try this one.
Bob Dylan - Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands: Really long, magical woozy song that you can listen to late at night. It goes on for ages, Dylan's written tons of verses. I think it's great.
