The Golden what...?
The Golden Joystick Awards, now in their 26th year, are the oldest gaming awards ceremony in the whole flippin' world and the most prestigious of the gaming industry. Past winners have included everything from fun family games (Wii Sports) to all-night multiplayers (World Of Warcraft), handheld console games (Nintendogs) and mobile games (Final Fantasy).But, in amongst the budget-busting, platform-hogging, killer-app games, why forget the little guy? Tomorrow’s genius developers are, right now, toiling away in front of computer screens with the simplest technology tools at their disposal, and finding – in the web – a distribution network as potent as that of any console corporation.
About E4.com's Grand Master Flash Award
In October 2008, for the first time, the E4.com Grand Master Flash Award (that's us!) celebrates the addictive, zeitgeisty, viral qualities of web-based Flash games, as nominated and voted for by viewers of the UK’s most addictive, zeitgesty and, er, viral television channel.The inaugural winner of this newly-minted nominations category will not only be the recipient of a great Golden Joystick award and a massive cheque, but also take a seat in some great company. Time flies by so quickly in the computing multiverse that games that used to take hours to load up and play can now be embedded into web pages as ickle Flash files.
