Lucas didn’t have the greatest start in life. His mom Karen was knocked-up by basketball prodigy Dan Scott, who quickly distanced himself from the whole thing and refused to have anything to do with his son’s upbringing. Lucas inherited his father’s hoops skills, but had to practice on tatty street courts, rather than with the prestigious school team, The Ravens.
Unfortunately, Lucas also inherited his father’s congenital heart disease, a fact he hides from his mom and his basketball coach. The closest thing Lucas had as a father figure was Keith, Dan’s brother, who helped Lucas and his mother as much as he could. It was Keith who finally got Lucas his chance on the Ravens team.
Joining the Ravens brought Lucas together with his half-brother Nathan, who enjoyed his father’s full support and encouragement growing up. The two brothers soon came to blows on and off the court and began a stormy relationship which saw them as bitter rivals and unusual allies as their lives developed.
One problem the brothers faced was the mutual affection towards the same ladies. Lucas soon moved in on Nathan’s girlfriend Peyton, while Nathan began a relationship with Lucas’ best friend Haley. More women pass through the brothers’ lives, but the two always seem to be thrown together, whether it be by family drama or pressure-filled basketball game.
