Unlike his older half-brother Lucas, Nathan Scott enjoyed all the privileges of a favourite son and all-American athlete. Much like his father Dan, Nathan became the star of the local basketball team, the Ravens, and a High School hero. He has a lovely girlfriend and a perfect life; but all that changes when his neglected half-brother Lucas joins the team.
Lucas has been ignored by Dan, who doted on Nathan instead. But their happy family home has hidden problems. Dan soon gets involved with Lucas’ mother Karen, while his wife Deb develops an addiction to painkillers. Meanwhile, Nathan’s girlfriend Peyton has been spirited away by his brother, so he finds solace with Lucas best friend Haley.
Despite his father’s attention, Nathan is determined not to turn out like him and his relationship with his parents is often strained. He lives for basketball, which he sees as a potential escape route out of Tree Hill. He’s the Raven’s star player and excels at the sport. But will the pressures outside the game, family, girlfriends, marriage and the turbulent time he has with his half-brother, derail his plans?
Soon Nathan’s dreams of a glittering sports career have to contend with his relationship with Haley and a baby on the way. Add in his mother’s pill-popping ways and the demented activities of his father, and Nathan’s life soon takes a dramatic turn.
