While the teenagers adjust to their shifting relationships, the town's adults, Dan, father of Nathan and Lucas; Dan's estranged wife, Deb, Lucas' mother, Karen Roe, Dan's older brother, Keith, and grizzled high school basketball coach Whitey, cope with the consequences of their past actions.

After spending the summer out of town, Brooke returns to Tree Hill. Lucas welcomes his mother at the airport. Peyton investigates a mysterious woman who claims to be her mother. Meanwhile, Nathan must deal with Haley's reappearance and the aftermath of the fire at Scott Motors. Dan's fate after the fire is revealed.

This episode is named after a song by Paris, Texas.
