Sam
Sam is 21, works at a DIY store and his parents sold his soul to the Devil. Not one of life's achievers, Sam now finds himself capturing souls escaped from Hell. He is in love with Andi and is best friends with Sock.
The Devil
The Devil is Sam's boss. He's curiously interested in Sam but other than that seems a genial man. He loves cooking, shopping, and the fires of eternal torment.
Andi
Andi and Sam have never got it together. First she went away to college, and then he's been treading on eggshells since her dad died. Just as he's decided it's time to declare his love, along comes Satan.
Sock
Sock is Sam's best friend. He adores the life of the Work Bench, and thinks Sam's sideline in soul hunting is a fun new hobby.
Ted
Ted is the manager of the Work Bench. He likes fancy dress and schedules.
Ben
Ben hangs out with Sock and Sam. He shares their missions to capture souls, but frequently gets hurt in the process.
Josie
Once, Sock was lucky enough to go out with Josie. He's never let her forget it. She's got a sensible job, and unwittingly helps Sam go through the files looking for demons.
Gladys
Gladys guards the portal to Hell. She works for the Department of Motor Vehicles.
