At the morning briefing, Trudy gets a visit from her new boyfriend Craig. Everyone notices his resemblance to the wanted poster for the Truckee River Killer. Trudy is already upset by everyone's reaction to craig, so the force must be delicate with their investigations. Clemmie takes Trudy shopping and discovers that Craig likes to wear black and knits jumpers from human hair.

The force attend a fire. They find a distraught man whose novel is trapped inside the building. Before risking their lives to save it, they ask for details of the book. They decide the book too closely resembles the plot to the film 'Frequency'. They even talk the firefighters out of helping him. Junior and Dangle bust some kids who are trying to ride a go-kart through a hoop of fire. They chase the kids away, then have a go themselves - only for Junior to set himself on fire.

Dangle and Clemmie attend a barbeque at Craig's house. Their suspicions grow when they find out that Craig likes to grind his own meat, collects shoes, has a human-sized cage in the kitchen and keeps a mysterious box in his living room that no one is allowed to open. Eventually the force break into his house, only to be caught by Craig and Trudy who are in the middle of an S & M game. An upset Trudy makes everyone leave. Then she finds a pickled foot in the fridge. We see the couple one week later. Trudy is still holding a torch even though Craig is now in jail.
