Deputy Trudy Wiegel is an emotionally unstable, heavily-medicated hypochondriac, with multiple psychological disorders and occasional night terrors with some signs of autism. By her own admission her nickname is 'antisocial bi-polar manic depressive lunatic'. She is a generally odd, neurotic person with low self-esteem and a love for cats. She enjoys crafts, collecting baby clothes, and is infatuated with Lieutenant Dangle, who, strangely, doesn't return the affection. Her favorite picnic spot is that of her mother's grave, where she plays with and supposedly speaks to her late mother.

Wiegel's biological father was Native American and her mother was white. She is quite agressively hostile to her female colleagues on the force - but only behind their backs. She is allergic to flour and initially joined the force on medical advice - with her doctors believing it would be good for her to get out of the house.
