Who's who in West Lahunga Beach
Rick Brocka, Jr
(Voiced by Will Matthews): Rick is the 30 year-old Filipino-American partner of Steve, very much the homemaker of the pair and certainly the more likely to have someone say "you could be Joseph" to him (i.e. he's a bit prissy). He is self-confessedly obsessed with cleanliness and science fiction, which probably stems from the fact he is an only child.
Steve Ball
(Voiced by Peter Paige): Steve is a well-off real estate broker. Despite not being very bright, he's hot, good with colours and effortlessly charming. Real estate doesn't really interest Steve (although the money he earns does), he's much more likely to be found going for the burn in the gym or watching "sports" on the TV. Oh, and he's far, far kinkier than Rick.
Kirsten Kellogg
(Voiced by Emily Brooke Hands): Kirsten is 28, Rick's best friend and Dana's other half. The manager of lesbian sex toys boutique, Chick Sticks, what Kirsten really wants to do is make a living from art, settle down and have a family. Her optimism and philanthropy mean that she's an easy target, but a dependable friend.
Dana Bernstein
(Voiced by Taylor M. Dooley): Kirsten's angry 32 year old bulldyke wife, Dana is fiercely butch; in fact, she's the sworn enemy of Steve (and anyone else for whom looks are more important than attitude - oh, and all men, period). Dana is into garage rock, mullets, incense and taking guys down with her acid tongue (that's a metaphor, but Dana probably doesn't think of it that way).
Chuck Masters
(Voiced by Alan Cumming): Chuck is 50 years old, Steve's best friend and Evan's boyfriend. He contracted HIV back when it was trendy, though his paralysis (from the left testicle down) was caused by a hit and run accident. Chuck's life is all sex, drugs and rock and roll though these days the drugs are largely protease inhibitors and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. He has skinny t-cells.
Evan Martinez
(Voiced by Wilson Cruz): Evan is Chuck's 19 year-old Latino kept boyfriend and disco bunny. He "tweaks" so often on a combination of diet pills, uppers and downers that actual sleep would probably kill him. He can name any club anthem within two seconds of the DJ laying it down. And, although everything is, like, so way before his time, you can't call Evan vacuous - he wouldn't have a clue what it means.
Pussy
(Voiced by Liza Del Mundo): Rick and Steve's extremely intelligent and, at times, supernatural Siamese cat Pussy is so smart that she has been know to talk (down) to people. Puss puts up with their ignorance only because they pet her, and self-petting is so unsatisfying. Plus, she's guaranteed a clean, sensibly decorated playroom all of her own.
Condi Ling
Condoleeza has successfully turned eleven men gay, the first being Rick, back in high school, and has attempted suicide seventeen times (with little success) since. A short, fat Asian girl with pigtails, she is unattractive to straight men, but can totally be, like, the bestest friend forever of any good looking guy who's kind to his mother. Condi has hefty, unexplained financial status - which she spends on too-tight clothes and make-up.
Ebony & Ivory
Kirsten and Dana's politically motivated, socially responsible lesbian long term relationship partners. Ebony and Ivory refuse to conform to sexist heterogenous patriarchal norms and, as such, will not inflict their offspring Echinacea with a constricting stereotype, such as "gender". They feel it their responsibility to enlighten Kirsten and Dana about what being a lesbian is all about - finding your own "life journey", not following the crowd, and going on organised marches.
Joanna
Just a sweet li'l Southern belle at heart, Joanna is Steve's mumsy. She just loves her little sugarplum to bits, but he is going to be the death of her, what with his backdoor shenanigans. Joanna's Evangelical Baptist faith doesn't seem to preclude her from getting involved in BDSM, clubbing, booze and drugs. She may or may not have come to terms with the fact that her son is gay.
