Samantha Newly awakens in the hospital after a hit and run accident has left her in a coma. She’s surrounded by her loving and supportive family and friends. The only problem is that she has no idea who they are – or who she is. Sam has retrograde amnesia, which allows her to fully function in the world but leaves her with no personal memories. Most people would deem this disorder a curse. But Sam may come to call it a miracle when she discovers what a horrible person she was before the accident.
Sam quickly discovers she was a terrible person, vain, selfish and potentially surrounded by far more enemies than friends. Her supposed best-friend hasn’t talked to her since childhood, her real best friend is a party girl who reveals that Sam was an adulterous alcoholic and her parents haven’t talked to her in two years. She also has some home truths to face up to with former boyfriend Todd – who wasn’t exactly treated perfectly by the old Sam.
She makes a conscious decision to improve herself moving forward. She vows to make better choices, even though her instincts may not always steer her in the right direction. She begins with Frank the doorman at her apartment building. Sam had never talked to him before, but upon actually saying hello to him, she discovers someone would could help her discover the true path to change.
