The Newly's sadly have a funeral to attend - of unfortunate Uncle Walter - but luckily Sam has a cute black dress to wear. But Regina's upset by the speedy passing of life and prompts Sam to stump up some grandchildren. When Sam feels her biological clock ticking away and realises her desire to be a mother, she tries to probe her own motherly instincts by borrowing Dena's dog to find out if she's nurturing enough to care for and love it.

Meanwhile, Regina attempts pilot lessons when she learns that Walter has willed them a plane, and Andrea continues to fuel the tabloid fires when she dates famous pro-basketball star Tony Dane and encourages a false rumour that she herself might be in the family way.
