After a series of misunderstandings involving trying to sell a house to a couple, one white one black, Sam thinks her old self may have been racist, plus she realises she has no black friends at all. She decides she needs to be a better friend to Frank. Meanwhile, when Andrea's pro-basketball player boyfriend Tony is seen kissing another man and outed as gay, she fears that all the glamorous perks that come from dating a celebrity will end.
While going to visit Frank, someone attempts to mug Sam, though she refuses to be mugged, fearing it will re-enforce a negative racial stereotype. But Sam makes things worse by using Frank to impress the clients who thought she was racist. Andrea meets with Tony's 'people' to propose a fake marriage proposal, to take the shine off the whole 'kissing a man' episode. But this causes problems with Seth - who thought that he and Andrea were 'back on'.
