Samantha Newly is still suffering from retrograde amnesia and series 2 sees her getting more desperate to sort her life out and get away from the horrible person she used to be. She's still surrounded by her oddball family, including her domineering mother Regina and her nice but slightly useless father Howard, who use Samantha's loss of memory to patch up their damaged relationships.
Sam also relies on her close friends; her ex-boyfriend Todd, ex-co-worker Andrea and the needy, socially awkward Dena. Her friends also manipulate the new Sam, glad the worst elements of their old pal have been erased and old indiscretions have been forgotten. Sam also leans on the wise words of her old doorman Frank, someone she treated appallingly in the bad old days, but now offers invaluable advice.
Series 2 sees Sam trying a new drug to get her memories back - but soon regrets her decision. She gets tangled up in a dancing competition, chickens out of a trip to Africa and goes into business with Regina. And there's a new romance on the horizon - someone with something in common with Sam, but nothing in common with Howard.
