JD and his best friend Turk begin their first day as interns at Sacred Heart Hospital, but could they have made a big mistake? JD’s struggling with stress as he imagines his medical career to be so different. Everything is wrong; the atmosphere in hospital is crazy, and the people around him are mean, which doesn’t help his performance. Added to this, all his patients are older than 70 which makes him feel more like a care worker than a doctor.
As JD struggles, Turk immediately feels at home; he’s down with the surgeons, having fun and he even starts trying to seduce one of the nurses, Carla. Meanwhile JD gets stiffed by fellow intern, Elliot.
However, by the end of the day things are looking up. Dr Cox seems to be more helpful than Dr Kelso, and with his help JD is soon dealing with his first serious patient. Tired but happy the interns leave work dreaming only about their beds after their first 32 hour shift…
