No matter how good an intern you are when it comes to dealing with diseases and family, an intern just doesn’t cut it and the only person who can help out is a Hero. So it falls to Dr. Cox to tell Ben, Jordan and J.D. they can beat Ben’s cancer.
While Ben doesn’t seem to take his illness seriously Dr. Cox starts to worry about his friend, and things get much worse when his blood results turn out really bad. With Ben having to start chemo immediately, Perry realises he can’t handle the pressure of his best friend having cancer and bails leaving J.D. to fend for himself for a while.
Living under a misapprehension as he is the best surgeon in the hospital, Turk gets a slap in the face when Dr Wen asks Bonnie to assist him with a difficult Whipple procedure instead of him. Having offended Dr Wen by asking if he only chose Bonnie because they are both Asian, he gets a bigger shock when he discovers that Todd is the best surgical intern at the hospital, because he is the only surgeon who works ‘in the moment’. In the teeth of that, Turk doesn’t care if he is not the best one right now, he’s convinced one day he will own the Chris Turk Wing!
Finally Cox decides to suck it up and JD finds him in Ben’s room, which is when he realises that its when we’re not being heroes that we are the most heroic of all, and despite Perry almost bailing on Ben, he will always be JD’s Hero.
