Despite the factoid that a mistake is made on 20 % of all patients and most of these are clerical and harmless, Turk is still a heartbeat away from giving an appendix patient a crotch lobotomy because one of the nurses mixed up his files, and Elliot incorrectly proclaims one of her patients pregnant, nearly ruining her rosy future of marriage just because laboratory technician mislabelled her urine sample.
Meanwhile JD is privileged to meet Ben, Jordan’s brother, Dr Cox’s best friend and a happy-go-lucky-photographer, who comes to Sacred Heart with his hand nailed to a piece of wood. However, this seemingly innocuous injury turns out to be much more serious when tests reveal he has Leukaemia.
After the accidents with Turk and Elliot’s patients, JD is convinced Ben’s results are another mistake and decides to check everything again. He first gets the nurse who mixed up Turk’s files ass into gear; next he gets Elliot to turn on the waterworks to Franklyn, the Lab Tech, to guilt him into rechecking the results.
With no screw-ups so far, JD finally decides to face up the meanest intern-hating monster in the hospital, the Haematopathologist, hoping he made a mistake. Unfortunately the lab results come back negative again leaving JD to face the facts his new best friend has Leukaemia. That sucks!
