When he inquires about it, Carla reveals that she is not big on sharing her personal life with other people. Later, JD encourages Carla to open up when he sees her in a bad mood. However, once she begins spouting off about her insecurities, JD realises he’s in too deep. Eventually, Carla begins to open up to JD again.
During surgery, Turk realizes that Bonnie, a fellow resident, is consistently favored over him. Turk’s jealousy is fueled even more by Bonnie’s taunting remarks. When Dr. Kelso announces that, after discussion with Dr. Wen, he has chosen Turk to accompany him to Mexico on the “Doctors Without Borders” program, Turk gets his own back and begins to taunt Bonnie. He is quickly silenced when Dr. Wen reveals that he had recommended Bonnie and that the only reason Dr. Kelso chose Turk was because he didn’t want to take a woman. When he confronts Dr. Kelso on his decision, he condescendingly admits it. Feeling guilty, Turk admits to Bonnie that she was originally recommended. When he offers his place to her, she snidely refuses it. Turk eventually declines the trip and sends Todd in his place.
