Carla and Turk are preparing for their wedding. Since Carla was a little girl, she has dreamt of a big, expensive wedding, but realises that she may have to settle for something a little smaller because of their budget constraints. Later, Carla shocks everyone with the sudden news that her mother has died.
After the funeral, Carla is left feeling depressed and tells Turk that she wants to get married right away instead of waiting. To make Carla happy, Turk arranges to have the wedding in the hospital chapel.
In the middle of the impromptu ceremony, Turk thinks about Carla’s dream of wanting a big, beautiful wedding and stops the ceremony to tell her that she is rushing the wedding in response to her mother’s death and deserves the wedding of her dreams. So, they postpone the event.
Now that JD and Jamie can date each other openly, their relationship has begun to lose its excitement. Elliot points out to JD that Jamie is a drama queen who thrives on drama and conflict. He figures out that this is true and does everything he can to keep his relationship with Jamie exciting. But when the drama isn’t there, they don’t have a lot to talk about.
When he points this out to Jamie, she is a little taken aback. But, after thinking about it, she realizes that it’s true and makes a decision to change in order to keep their relationship going. Their next get together is nice, quiet and drama free.
Dr. Kelso wants the doctors at his hospital to improve their doctor-patient communication and be more sensitive and careful with what they say to them, to prevent lawsuits. He forces an irritable Dr. Cox to teach a seminar on doctor-patient relations.
JD compliments the Janitor’s shorts one day at work. A week later, the Janitor presents him with a pair of shorts his wife made to match JD’s medical scrubs and he politely wears them around the hospital, even though he looks foolish. JD ends up throwing away the shorts and lies to the Janitor that they were stolen. When the Janitor finds them in the dumpster, he confronts the doctor who explains that doctors aren’t allowed to wear shorts at work.
