JD and Elliot are still adjusting to being only friends. Feeling a little hurt and rejected, and Elliot doesn’t seem to care either way, JD decides to ask Lisa, the gift shop girl, out again, even though their first and probably last date didn’t go well. Surprisingly, she says yes. The date goes even worse the second time.
But, JD still isn’t over his feelings for Elliot. He is just about to tell her how he really feels when she tells him that she’s found an apartment. Without him mentioning it, she repeats her feelings that they should just be friends.
Things get worse between them when Elliot’s truck is stolen. When she goes to JD for help and solace, he ditches her for his date with Lisa. Angry, Elliot lashes out at JD for not being there for her as a friend. He later realises his mistake, shows up at her new apartment with a bouquet of flowers and lets her cry on his shoulder.
Dr. Cox and Carla’s patient, Mr. Corman is paying them yet another visit. He is a borderline hypochondriac, so each time he comes to the hospital he thinks that he has some exotic, rare ailment. Hoping to finally discourage him from coming back, Dr. Cox suggests giving him a bone marrow test, which involves a very painful procedure with a big, long needle. Mr. Corman says yes to the test. Dr. Cox is stunned when he sees that the test results reveal that Mr. Cox is actually sick with a rare form of cancer. Because they caught the cancer in time, it’s treatable. But Corman still chastises Dr. Cox for not taking his complaints, however numerous, seriously.
Turk also has a challenging patient. Mrs. Kaye recently had brain tumour removed and Turk is concerned that her motor skills and reaction time may be diminished. Everything seems fine, but to be on the safe side, Dr. Kelso tells Turk to call the authorities to revoke her driving license. Unfortunately, Turk doesn’t call the authorities. While driving herself home from the hospital, she plows into Dr. Kelso’s beloved car, Bessie, just barely missing Turk and Dr. Kelso. Dr. Kelso lets Turk in on a little secret - all patients lie.
