JD has to find an apartment after Elliot has bought a new house, so he has no time to daydream in his very special way, so Kelso gets a turn to share his thoughts and narrate this episode.
When Dr Kelso meets a new patient 'Private Dancer' who is an Iraqi War veteran, it reminds him of when he was in the navy and grows very fond to him. With there being a veteran on the ward, the staff get into a political debate about the war and sides everyone picks sides.
The veteran makes Kelso think about how he treats people and his conscious starts to play on his mind. Due to Carla still being on maternity leave there is no head nurse, so Dr Kelso steps into her place to prove a point.
As for the Iraqi war debate, Elliot reveals she is a Republican and Turk is shows he's liberal and they both get caught up heavily in the debate even though they tell Dr Kelso they are professional and can get on with their duties without getting distracted.
