We're always looking for new ways of getting the music you make into Skins and this series we've come up with a new plan. It's pretty simple and we hope you like it. You upload your tracks via the Skins site at www.e4.com/skins ("Skins Site"), we listen to them, blog about the best tracks and we may put our favourites in the show. We would also like to give a selection of you a chance to release your first single with us but we're still working on the details and so we'll be back with an update as soon as we can. You must make sure that you and your track complies with the terms & conditions below ("Terms") and by uploading a track you agree to and will comply with the Terms. If you do not or cannot agree to any of the Terms, please do not upload a track.

This unsigned music solicit is operated by Channel Four Television Corporation ("Channel 4") in conjunction with Company Pictures Limited (the producer of Skins) ("Company Pictures"). The upload form, website and database to store and review your tracks are being provided by Artists Without A Label (Awal UK Limited) ("AWAL").

Uploading tracks - Process

1. You need to upload a track in mp3 format and under 10MB in size. The upload form is here.
2. Company Pictures and Channel 4 will review your tracks and, if we like the track or consider it to be suitable for inclusion in the next series of Skins, you will be contacted by Company Pictures by email to discuss next steps.
3. Once we have finalised how we might be able to allow people to release a single through us, Company Pictures or Channel 4 will contact people who provided the tracks we liked by email to discuss next steps. At this point, you will need to complete and agree to appropriate documentation but we’ll explain the details to you and it will be entirely up to you whether you want to be involved with this.
4. Company Pictures and Channel 4 reserve the right to use, display and/or promote on the Skins Site such tracks as they may decide from time to time and may remove these from display at any time. Not all tracks will be displayed or used.
5. Company Pictures and Channel 4's decisions in relation to use of tracks is final and they will not be required to enter into any discussion or correspondence about why a track has been chosen or not.

You and Your Track - Important Requirements

6. You and everyone in your band (if there is a band):
a. must be aged 18 years old or over;
b. must be "unsigned" (meaning you do not have any formal or informal arrangements with any recording companies or management agencies); and
c. must not be an employee of (or a member of the family or household of an employee of) Channel 4 or Company Pictures.
7. Your track must be original and not copied from anyone else. If you include anyone else's material in your track or sample any material, you must have permission to do so. If you don't, you will be infringing the copyright in the material.
8. You must have the consent of all the people who feature on your track and they must all be happy for this to be uploaded as part of this Skins solicit.
9. You can use language similar to the language you hear on Skins but do not include anything in your track that is obscene, indecent, harassing, threatening or liable to incite racial hatred.
10. There are no restrictions on the length of your track but files must be under 10MB and mp3 format. You can use any means you have to record your track but the higher the quality the better.
11. The upload form is expected to remain available for tracks to be uploaded until 19 February 2010 (although this date may change at Company Pictures and Channel 4's discretion). Channel 4 may withdraw, cancel or amend the process without prior notice for example if the programme is cancelled, to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory or other similar requirements or for any reason outside Company Pictures and/or Channel 4's control.

Your Information and Ownership of Videos

12. AWAL (on behalf of Company Pictures and Channel 4) will collect the following information about you when you upload a track: your name, email address, artist name, track name and track genre. Personal information will only be used for the purpose of this Skins solicit and in accordance with Channel 4's privacy policy here. If you are contacted to use your track in Skins (or about releasing a single through us) then you may be asked to provide certain other personal information and will be told how this will be used.
13. You will own your track and neither Channel 4, Company Pictures or AWAL will obtain any rights in your track other than as set out in these Terms. By uploading a track you agree that Company Pictures and Channel 4 (and third parties authorised by Company Pictures and/or Channel 4) may use it, copy it and make any part of it available on the Skins Site. We will only use your track in the Skins programme or release a single if you agree to this.

General

14. Channel 4 and Company Pictures reserve the right to disqualify you if they have reasonable grounds to believe you have breached any of the Terms.
15. You may upload as many tracks as you like provided they comply with the Terms. Tracks must be created and uploaded in the manner and by the closing date and time specified in the Terms or on the Skins Site. Failure to do so will disqualify the submission. There is no purchase requirement to upload a track.
16. In the event of any dispute regarding the Terms, conduct, results and all other matters relating to track or the solicit process, the decision of Channel 4 and Company Pictures shall be final and Channel 4 and Company Pictures will not be required to enter into any discussion or correspondence.
17. Proof of uploading a track cannot be accepted as proof of delivery or receipt of the track by Company Pictures or Channel 4. Channel 4 and Company Pictures do not accept responsibility for any tracks lost, damaged, altered, accessed or delayed as a result of server functions, technical issues, virus, bugs or other causes outside Company Pictures or Channel 4's control.
18. The terms and conditions that apply to the Skins Site here. also apply to this solicit and are incorporated into and form part of these Terms (any track you upload will be "User Content" and you will be a "Member" in accordance with the Skins Site terms and conditions).
