Segal - Ten Thousand Needles.

You remember Fat Segal? Well, following the sex scandal involving Gary from Eastenders and the entire panel of Loose Women, he hit rock bottom and moved in with the tragic figure that is Dean Gaffney - he spent six months living in Well Hard's dog basket. But he's back now and he's not fat any more. He's upped his game this season and has got the opening slot. Ten Thousand Needles is a top electronic tune with house and euphoric elements, although no way is it a house or euphoric tune - it's new and different, but it's fucking ace. I'm proper into this tune and I recommend you get hold of it somehow (iTunes is probably your best bet). It's the song which is played in the club as Sophia falls to her death...
Ivan Campo -The Great Procrastinator.

These boys are from my hometown and they're named after a certain curly haired Spanish footballer. Preston is a weird place - not much there musically - but there are, however, a few diamonds. Ivan Campo are my favourite band out of Preston; it's simple, sweet music with very well written songs. I'm a big fan of these boys and I expect big things from them, so go and check them out.
This is the song played as Panda and Thomas walk home after the club.
Oumou Sangare - Djlorolen.

Oumou Sangare is a traditional African artist from Mali. Previous to working on Skins my knowledge of African music didn't extend much further than the 'Lion King Soundtrack', which is a shame because there's a lot of great music coming out of Africa at the moment.
Baraka & Explosive Nzakomba- I Believe in God
This is played in the Church as Thomas first notices Andrea. The song was written for Skins and the band at the front are called Barraka. They wrote the song and performed it along with the choir. It looks like fun that, doesn't it? Well I was there and it was just sweaty…
6 Day Riot - Every Third Sunday.

These lot are a folk, female-led band who are really easy to like. They will appear again in Ep. 2, so look out for them. Even if you think they're shit, go check them out anyway because the singer, Tamara, is pretty fit.
Mumford & Sons - The Cave.

This is the tune played when Cook pours his MDMA away. I've been on to Mumford & Sons for a little while now and they're a London folk band who I usually avoid for two reasons: they're either singing about topics which clearly have no relevance to living in England, or they're churning out the same sixth form poetry you've heard a million times before.
Ida Maria - Keep Me Warm

Playing when Thomas and Andrea have sex in the cupboard.
The Amazing Broken Man - Near Town.
The Amazing Broken Man is a singer-songwriter from Brazil who I found on Myspace. This song plays as Thomas is getting on it at the pub before he twats Cook. I see really big things on the horizon for this artist.
Charlatans - Oh Vanity.

This classic, Manchester-indie band is playing in the pub where Thomas is drinking.
Gurrumul Yunupingo - Djarrimill
I'm a big fan of this guy's music. The album is really nice to fall asleep to, it's filled with beautiful melodies and this is the best song on there - I also really like his voice. I first heard it about a year ago and I knew it could be used; Thomas has been through a journey and we wanted a song to represent an end to it.
Grizzly Bear - Foreground

This is the Dan "The Butcher" Gethic's song of the series (he edited this episode) and one of my favourite songs in the world. It's a tired song, which is calm but really powerful. It's also a beautifully placed song: as Thomas' head bows, the choir erupts. This is a powerful episode and the tune is perfect to play us out.
Dawn Landes - All Dressed in White.

A lovely song for the end credits.
