Introducing...Kyle
Allreet.
My name's Kyle and I'm from Preston and I’m replacing Stoke's Alex Hancock as Music Supervisor on Skins. Alex is about to do one to South America. I'm pretty sure he's gone to 'find himself' like a gap year loser, but I'll let you know how he gets on.
Alex is a good lad and built up the ‘Skins Music’ reputation and the job I am now doing. Music is the best thing in the world and having this job is pretty perfect. I get to listen to music all day every day; I read the scripts, watch the latest cuts of episodes and talk with everyone involved in post production before suggesting a bunch of tunes. I know it sounds pretty great, but there is a lot of paperwork shit to wade through but I won't bore you with that stuff.
There are a lot of cool people who work on the show and who bring their own music ideas to each episode. Music is always being talked about and it usually takes a lot of searching to find the right tune for the right scene. Sometimes it’s just there, which makes life a bit easier.
I find music in the way anyone does: I go to a bunch of gigs and spend a lot of time scanning Myspace, blogs, Last FM and all that lot. This isn't really enough, though. I’m very keen to hear what you're into and I really want any suggestions from you for what to listen to and who to see live. I’m on twitter which is probably the easiest way of letting me know what I should find time to have a look at or what I should avoid. There are big plans for music this year to do with new music and unsigned acts. We basically want to get your stuff in the show, listened to and out there. Keep working on any stuff you want us to hear and
send it straight to us...
I'll be writing a bunch on this website about what I’ve discovered, heard and seen as well as bringing back the episode guides Alex did. The next article I'll do is about the best and worst gigs of the past couple of months. I'll try not to get as angry as Alex about stuff, but I can't promise anything.
Anyway, you should look forward to series 4 because it’s going to be well good: everyone’s worked really hard and it definitely shows.
