Though he looks like the typical all-American, clean-cut Midwestern teenager, Clark Kent is anything but typical. Born as Kal-El on the alien planet of Krypton to Jor-El and Lara-El, he was the last son of Krypton, sent to Earth when his home planet was about to be destroyed. Clark's ship crash-landed in Smallville, Kansas during a meteor shower where he was discovered and subsequently adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent. They named him Clark, after Martha’s maiden name.
He was raised as a regular farm kid – respectful to his adoptive parents, hard-working, studious and normal. But slowly his Kryptonian powers begin to emerge and overshadow his life. Over the years he has developed super-strength, invulnerability, super-speed, heat vision, X-ray vision and more, he’s even realised that he has the ability to fly, but has yet to master this particular art. But also, as he and slowly his enemies have discovered, he’s vulnerable to various forms of Kryptonite, radioactive remnants from his home planet Krypton.
Aware of his powers, Jonathan and Martha kept Clark away from school groups and sports’ teams – but he still formed close friendships with local kids Chloe Sullivan and Pete Ross. Since an early age he’s also been madly in love with a neighbour – Lana Lang – but couldn’t understand why he felt ill whenever he was near to her. It was finally discovered that Lana wore a distinctive necklace made from the elements of kryptonite meteor. Young Clark also formed a close bond with another local character, Lex Luthor, after he saved his life in a car accident.
During his High School years, Clark was called upon to utilise his alien abilities more and more as he came across various Smallville residents distorted and damaged by the meteor rocks that fell to Earth during Clark's arrival. He often considered starting a romantic relationship with Chloe, but always held a torch for Lana. Clark slowly learns more and more about his history and destiny. He finds that red Kryponite has a rebellious effect on him and then discovers a series of caves bearing strange images and symbols connected to his past. Eventually his birth father, Jor-El contacts his son and begins to communicate with him about his presence on Earth. But his true destiny troubles Clark and alters his life forever.
After surviving High School and University, Clark begins to understand the importance of his powers and realise his destiny is in the protection of mankind from other Krypton-mutated villains and the shenanigans of the evil Luthorcorp. He takes a new position at the Daily Planet, paired up with Lois Lane and starts a new chapter of his life.
