We've put some answers together for common questions we're often asked about user uploads. We hope they help. If you have other questions, please ask via our help section at www.e4.com/help.
On the upload page, once you have completed your details, selected your video, given it at least a title and clicked 'submit', you will see a timer that shows the progress of your upload. After this, you will see the message:
"Thanks for entering. Your entry is currently being checked for naughty bits by our team of moderator mongeese. Once they've given it the thumbs up, it will appear on the site for all to see."
Once you've seen this message, relax. You've entered successfully.
If you entered your video for a competition, remember that only a selection will appear online, but every video that gets uploaded WILL be entered for the competition and be judged.
We try to publish as many videos as we can, but sometime this isn't possible. Some videos break our terms and conditions, or sometimes we just get too many videos to publish all of them.
Don't worry. As the email explains, your video won't appear on the website, but it will still be considered for the competition.
Go to your profile page. To do this, log in to e4.com, using the 'Log in' link at the top right of the page. Then click your username to be taken to your profile. Here you will see all videos and images that you've uploaded, which are currently live on the site. From here you can delete your videos, if you wish.
We have a system in place to stop spammers from uploading the same video multiple times. It also means that if an honest member of the public attempts to upload a video twice, you're also stopped. Don't worry though – if you've tried to upload a video a second time and the system is preventing you from doing this, it means that your first attempt worked.
Sorry, but them's the rules. All videos have to be under 20 megabytes. Try and export your video as a smaller file.
This sometimes happens. All videos have to be compressed to allow us to stream them quickly, otherwise the load time for people who want to watch your video would be so long that they'd nod off to sleep. So sometimes they don't look as good as the source. Don't be concerned if you uploaded your video for a competition and you're not happy with the quality, because (unless otherwise stated) we judge from the original, source material, rather than the version that's on the website.
